What in the World??

Joe read this to me tonight - to be honest, it makes me mad, but it scares me too - what is this world coming to???? The scariest quote from the article??

The effect on the planet of having one child less is an order of magnitude greater than all these other things we might do, such as switching off lights.

It makes me think of China - how long will it be before they restrict how many children we can have??? And for us it will be all in the name of the environment - I love the Earth, all that God put in it, I do want to take care of it, but I think that above all of that, God cherishes MORE the lives of the people on the earth - I can't speak for Him, but Wow - I must think this makes Him sad.

comparing having a child to hurting the environment to the pollutants of a long haul flight ... disgusting .. apparently he has never met our kids or perhaps any children ....I love the earth and all but that just sounds ridiculous ... please don't tell me anyone has given this guy lots of money to do research !!!!!

That is terribly sad and as Gwen said rediculous. Amazing what people will conclude in the name of economics. Perhaps we should start by spay and neutering all pets and maybe even this guy. OOPs, did I really type that.

That's just crazy thinking! I am just reminded that we as Christians are IN this world and not OF it! Have a great week!

Verna - AMEN - although he probably doesn't need it - I am thinking he's never had kids - or what would even possess you to think that?!?!?!

Well, I have a large family and I love it and I would do it again. I run my large truck that I carry them all in on ethanol and we use energy efficient lighting and do what we can to help the environment. I wouldn't want to live in a world that counted its children as a liability.

I TOTALLY agree Redmaryjanes - when it comes to that - we are in a sad state for sure!!!

The world is just organized chaos. . Any one thing can upset us at any moment. Yet we endure, we find friends, faith and family.
I am going to post soon about the environmentalists getting their panties in a knot about metal caskets and un-green burials/cremation.
As with most news, it is intended to grab viewers and therefore consumers to buy the paper/media.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Oh what will they think of next? I guess it could be something that could affect policy during our grandkids lives. What's scary is that U.S. has a growing trend of setting policy after European ones. That's why we need to vote and concider who we vote for!

I agree --- this is very sad! Laura Ingram, one of my favorite radio personalities, was just talking about a similar article. The author was basically stating that we needed to take drastic measures to decrease our population! Yikes!!

I just roll my eyes when I hear such insane comments! You have to wonder what drives people to say such a thing, don't you? A warped mind, perhaps???

This is insane, I think our younger generation are becoming very educated concerning our environment and how to help "save " it. My four year old is always instructing me on recycling ! What a ridiculous statement, this person oviously isn't a parent.

That is indeed very sad! How could somebody say such a thing?

Wow! That's scary. Just when you think that they couldn't possibly come up with anything crazier than they already have.

I have to agree with you on this Becky.

Hey Becky,

You stopped by my blog (though it's not my "real" blog -- it's kind of a work in progress -- so I was surprised to see someone leave a comment).

Anyway, come on by my daughter's blog at
What's Katie Doing Now? and see pix of my great family (3 big boys and a little princess).

Thanks for letting me know the "Oh Boy...Oh Girl" blog was listed on my profile - I had never checked that (of course, my "What's Katie..." blog isn't listed, go figure!

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
