Special Needs

I had someone question me today on why we were adopting Jada - if we even knew what we were getting into. I have to say - it does make me stop and think - like we did MONTHS ago now - but I come back to the same thing. We KNOW we are called to bring Jada home with us. We just KNOW it is God's plan. Can I explain it? No. And do I fully understand? No. But I know - Joe and I both fully agree - we know we are to do this. SO when I saw this video - I sat shaking my head "yes" - that's it. Jada's vision may not even be correctable, but she still needs a home. She needs a family and she needs to hear about God - we can do that - and we want to do that.
(Love Without Boundaries - the association that made this video is the one that SO graciously helped us find information out about Jada in the early stages - we have been so blessed through them.)

Any news on TA for you guys or an idea of when?
Can't wait to see Jada blossoming in your beautiful family.

"Do you know what you're getting yourself into?" Loaded question. I can safely say that I was far more prepared for our youngest, adopted, special needs child than I was with any of our three biological kids. I always wonder why folks assume that taking home a waiting child means you must not have done your homework. :P Having to explain and defend our actions, though, is frustrating and impossible. Sometimes I'm tempted to be Debbie Downer and list all of the things that could go wrong with our bio kids -- and how we would be completely unprepared to handle those things. But God does marvelous things for us, like giving grace to gently educate (ourselves & others!). Do ask yourselves, though: Are you really ready? Are you prepared for two more arms to hold you tight? Another soft neck to nuzzle? One more sweet voice whispering nightly prayers? Giggly sisters in bed at midnight? Big brothers' protective instincts times two? Do you really realize what you're getting into? Do you know JUST HOW BLESSED you will be with the addition of Jada Bilby??? :)

I think the term "special" says it all! Jada IS "special" and was "specially" chosen by GOD for your family! And because she is "special" to HIM, he has "specially" touched your hearts for her and will give all the "special" grace and peace and strength you need to parent her for HIS glory!! Congratulations!

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
