Geocachers

What else can you do in the summer out in the middle of nowhere?!?!? GEOCACHE!! Our boys love this new-found, modern-day treasure hunting. It's a man-thing, I think, but I'll let 'em do it!! Just as long as they rid themselves of their ticks BEFORE they enter the house!!!

And what's a girl to do while her brothers are Geocaching??? Well, dig in the dirt, of course!!!

OMW!! Do I have to put treasure in our woods if/when they come to visit?? I take it they are not afraid of ticks. So, they can camp in the backyard too. Looks like they had a lot of fun.

I would LOVE to try that. I always liked orienteering in school, so.....

Ok, looks like they're having fun, but what exactly are they looking for? Who sets these things up? Just curious!

We have done it but not for a while. You have motivated me to put it on our list of things to do.

Since you all have been asking what Geocaching is - you can click on the word Geocach on the post and it will take you to the website that explains it - it's like a treasure hunt but you use GPS units. People have hidden "caches" all around - they log them on the internet and then you plug those coordinates into your GPS unit and go find them! They think it's very fun!

Our family has tried this before. It is very much a guy thing. People really get into. It really is like looking for little treasures. You can take what you find but you must replace it with something new or just take a peek at it and put it back. I have even heard of people putting them in their yards and watch as people try to find it. I guess they are all over the world.

Looks like something my boys (or at least a couple of them) would love to do. Me - not so much.

Abby loves to dig, too! And I noticed Chloe had her purse with her. A girl's got to accessorize - even in the woods!

Nice way to have fun and learn too. I homeschooled my kids who are grown now, but I wish I had known about caching then.
Here is our blog if you'd like to look. lots of caching links.

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
