Our Joplin Adventure

We decided for our vacation this summer to spend some time visiting our friends in Joplin AND using some of our free time to serve. So we picked one of the hottest days so far, almost 101 degrees, and went to work!

The girls found a yo-yo - it was a hit!

Believe it or not - we DID work!

It is truly amazing to see these giant trees totally uprooted....

And to stand inside the house and look up and out....

A Little Work Break....

We decked out in floppy hats, sunscreen, work clothes, masks, and work gloves - we were READY!!

Not kidding when I say it was HOT - oh my!!! We went through LOTS of water and Gatorade!

The girls and I went to clean a house that a lady is moving into - her home was totally destroyed in the tornado - nothing left. We enjoyed cleaning in the air conditioning!! BUT when we got done, we headed over to see the men -

Jada by some of the rubble....

There are really no words for the destruction out here - and this is 6 weeks later. We are humbled at the power of God shown through a storm - humbled at the attitude of these people who have been left with nothing - and humbled at the willingness of people to give to help others around them.

What a beautiful thing that you, Joe and your family were able to help in some way! What a great vacation to share with your kids!

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
