Doggy Ambulance Needed

I wasn't even going to admit this story, but a friend said - "Oh, that is blog material." So here goes. We are getting ready to go to bed last night - about 10:30 and we thought we'd take Bella out one more time before tucking her into her kennel for the night. She wasn't outside long before she started jumping around - she just wouldn't leave whatever it was alone and pretty soon we heard loud cries coming from her. Joe went over to check it out and by this time Bella could hardly walk - Joe went and got the flashlight and we saw a very large bumblebee laying on the ground. Yep, Bella got stung. We had to carry her inside and proceeded to check her over. She just kept crying and crying - and that's when the raspy breathing started. So yes, we hit Google to figure out what to do (exactly what we do with sick kids!!!) Her breathing was getting worse so we decided to call our vet - in the off chance that there would be a number to call for questions - and what did we get?? Our poor vet up out of bed!!! But he was so helpful though and told us to give her Benadryl and stay up about an hour with her to watch her. (Ok, if you would have told us that we would be giving our pet Benadryl, we would have said you were lying - but if you would have told us we'd be staying up until midnight to sit with a dog with a bee sting - we'd have laughed at you!!) But that is exactly what we did - administered the Benadryl AND stayed up to monitor the breathing! Pathetic, isn't it!?!? We are happy to report that all is well today - she is walking normally and breathing fine - BUT WE are tired!!!!

poor little puppy! Our dog LOVES to chase bees and any other flying insect. He has gotten stung - in his mouth - more than once. But thankfully, he's not allergic and so it didn't affect his breathing.

So with the Benadryl, did she sleep through the night? that would be a bonus!

LOLOLOL I have never heard of a dog getting stung by a bee before.
Leave it to the Bilby's to have to have this happen to them.
Glad the baby is doing good today.Do you think she will have a new respect for bee's???

Just waiting for the day Abby gets stung by a bee. She has been chasing them and trying to catch them. I'm sure she'll get stung at least once, probably multiple times before she gets the idea. Hope Bella stays away from them now.

Poor little Bella. We would have done the same thing over here as well. I have been stung like 10 times in my life and it is painful. She is such a little thing. Glad to know that she is ok.

Ahh...new babies! Happy to hear that Bella is doing fine. Get some sleep. Bumble bees make me nervous, they are mean and attack for no reason. Sounds like Bella helped this along, tho. Poor baby. :(

poor baby. you can also give a dog asprin but it is based on the weights, not tylenol but asprin the original pain killer, LOL.

Oh my goodness! Just found out yesterday that dogs can have allergies. One of the shih tzus we sold to Georgia--his vet said he has allergies cuz he had a runny nose??? He's on THREE medications a day. Sounds a little far-fetched to me! But your little Bella is obviously allergic to bee stings. My oh my!

Oh what a sin … poor little thing!! I am so glad to hear she is ok now.

Bella is so adorable! My husband and I have been thinking of getting a dog and a Cockapoo is exactly what I wanted. Your picture certainly captured her beautifully in the “Newest Bilby” post.

Congratulations on your new addition!!

Smiles! :o)

Hmm.. very interesting that Benadryl would help.

I am here to ask for your help girl. I am hearing everywhere that the majority of SN babies are being matched off of the new shared SN list and as of my last conversation a few weeks ago with my SW, it is unknown if our agency even looks at it. They are approved to see it but it doesn't look like they take the time. Our of the 12 babies on their new list, 9 were from the previous one, so only 3 new babies. At that rate, no one will be referred. A woman on my morning chat group said her agency has referred 36 babies off of the list. But they are proactive and go in at night when China updates the list since it is day there and they put their 48 hour hold on the babies they think they match and they get to work.
Our agency is so lazy, I doubt any will take them time to look without a lot of pressure.
I am putting on the pressure, will you help me by pushing your SW to get them looking at the list?
