You've Come a Long Way, Baby!

When Jada brought this home today - I just had to smile.
I am going to be bluntly honest here - there were days when I was not sure if Preschool would even work - there are just some things that do not seem to "stick" with Jada and her learning - she knows things one day and then they are gone the next - I have never seen that before with children and so it can be hard to know how to teach with that.

But we are seeing things in her that I honestly don't know if I ever thought we would. She is becoming quite the humorist - ok, most days I don't like it when she tells me, "No YOU, BABY!!" but hey, she is trying to be funny - and trying to communicate - and while I want to tell her, "We don't call people Baby," I refrain from saying it EVERY time because it is progress. We still struggle to understand every word she says - but we are coming along - we can understand SO much more now and some new words are coming all the time.

What a difference a year makes - so this proud momma had to brag a bit on her aspiring artist - I am not kidding - even the circles are a BIG DEAL here!!

I totally understand. My little one (3 years old) is WAY behind as well. She still has only about 2 words, and as for "drawing"...when she attempts it all we get are a few scribbles. But, slowly but surely, she's making progress. And she's just about the sweetest little girl we've ever seen!
Embrace every little milestone...they will get there, it just takes some a bit longer :)

Becky, this actually gas me in tears this morning! I can only begin to imagine what sweet Jada has been through and the struggles you've fine through trying to help her. Definitely things to celebrate! I love the picture, wonder if it represents something to her or is just abstract. Either way shows her mind (and motor skills) are working.

It makes me think of Temple Grandin - she said, "Not Less, Just Different." I love that - that is Jada's timeline - not less, just different!!

I'm teary-eyed and smiling. I've taken a lot for granted in my 11 years as a mommy. I'm so thankful that God is giving me daily opportunities nowadays to celebrate those GREAT BIG "little things"! I can relate and celebrate with you!

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
