Gotcha Day

I've mentioned before that our pastor is in China!!!! (I'm a little excited over this - can you tell?!?!) So - they asked Joe to preach today. That guy amazes me - he works full time - more than full time - plays with his kids - helps me home school - AND can still put together a sermon that was wonderful. His sermon was on "Gotcha Day" and how the whole process of adoption relates, more importantly, to what our Heavenly Father has done for us. It was so appropriate to us as we're getting ready to celebrate Chloe's second Gotcha Day but appropriate, as well, since our pastor will celebrate Gotcha Day for the first time this Tuesday!!! My favorite part?? I loved the thought that each of us has our own "Gotcha Day" - the day that God chose us as His!! I checked our church website and it wasn't posted yet but I'll post the link and you can check off and on this week - it should be up soon (all of our sermons are available online). Just thought all of you -pro-adoption people would enjoy hearing him.

Way to go Joe! The best sermons are ones where the related experiences are personal! I will be waiting to hear it. Can download it right onto my iPod! :-)

I just listened to it. It brought me to tears thinking about how our daughters did not want anything to do with us at first, but love won out and they have purposed in their hearts to be in our family.

It als made me think about how we are very quick to talk about our children's adoption, but not so quick to tell others about our adoption into God's family.

Excellent, excellent sermon!!

Well, I found his sermon listed on the linked page, but couldn't get the MP3 file to download to my computer. (I am SO COMPUTER ILLITERATE...I'm sure I am just missing some crucial step or something.)

I bet it was a great sermon. I will try again later to download it.

Some of us in our church have held Sunday School classes once a quarter to share God's plan for adoption. We're trying to help our pastor see the correlation (as if he doesn't get it), and hope to have an Adoption Awareness Sunday some day. I know there are churches that do it.

Haven't had a chance to listen yet but can't wait. Will pass it on to our pastor as I'm trying to get an adoption month thing going in November. Figure I've given them plenty of warning.

When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.
